About Our Background

My journey into this sector of the service industry began when I was 11 years old raising an assistance dog for Canine Companions for Independence USA.  Two years later at 13, I met my best friend Kristin and later her first guide dog ‘Beatrice’.  I owe  Kristin a sincere debt of gratitude for showing me ability, not disability, in the way she moved and navigated through the world and life, and for her first steps to university with 'Beatrice' that influenced and directed me to pursue becoming a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor.

In 2008 I graduated from San Francisco State with a Master’s in Guide Dog Mobility with an adjoining internship with Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael.  Later that year I began working for Guide Dogs Queensland (GDQ) helping to place and train guide dog teams all around Queensland.

In 2014 I earned a Masters in Orientation and Mobility from Griffith University. Following this my role expanded to work in GDQ’s early learning center, children’s programs and camps, adult long cane classes, long cane route development and electronic travel aids.

In the beginning of 2023 Cornerstone Mobility began operation answering a call for caring, flexible and direct communication and service for those who are blind and vision impaired.

Cornerstone Mobilities foundational goal is to provide service to the community in a way that best suits our clients.
